For a baby in the NICU

Father, this baby is so small, and the room is full of wires. You knit this child together before anyone saw their face, and you know every tiny breath.

Strengthen those little lungs. Grow them day by day. Give the nurses gentle hands and give us parents the patience to measure progress in grams and in hours. Let us hold them as much as we are able, and let them know our voices.

Carry them, Lord. Carry us. Amen.
