Privacy policy

Plain English: what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how you stay in control.

Last updated: October 27, 2026

The short version

  • We collect as little as we can. You can read every page without giving us anything.
  • We ask for your email only when you want a free printable or a monthly note, and your name and email come to us through Stripe when you buy.
  • If you arrive from an ad, we may save which one in a cookie, and if you buy, tell that ad network a purchase happened. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland we only do this if you say yes.
  • The writing tools send what you type to an AI model to write your draft. We don't keep your answers or drafts, they aren't used to train AI, and we never ask how someone died.
  • We don't sell your personal information.

Who we are

Pastor.Care is operated by NewCulture Consulting, LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company (“we”). We are the data controller for the information described here. The site's founder and editor is Jon Horton. You can reach us at hello@pastor.care or by post at NewCulture Consulting, LLC, 101 Claire Dr, Clayton, NC 27520.

What we collect

Email signups

When you ask for a printable or a newsletter we collect your email address and note which download you asked for, which page you were on, and whether you said you are a pastor or on a church care team. If you arrived from an ad and allowed it, we add the ad information described below. We keep this until you unsubscribe. Every email has a one-click way to pause or unsubscribe.

Purchases

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us. Stripe gives us your name, email address, billing country, what you bought and what you paid. We use that to deliver your purchase, email your receipt and download links, handle refunds and meet tax and accounting rules. Stripe is our order record; we do not run a separate customer database.

Cookies

We use a small number of first-party cookies:

CookieWhat it doesLasts
pc_attrRemembers which ad or tagged link brought you here: click identifiers (for example from Google, Meta, Microsoft, LinkedIn, TikTok, Reddit or Pinterest), campaign tags, the time of the click, the first page you landed on and the site that referred you. We keep the first and the most recent. Only set if you arrived with such a link, and in the EU/EEA/UK/Switzerland only after you accept.90 days
pc_consentRemembers your choice on the consent banner.180 days
pc_regionTells the page to show the consent banner to visitors in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland.1 day
_ga, _ga_*Set by Google Analytics to tell one visitor's visits apart. See “Analytics” below. In the EU/EEA/UK/Switzerland, only after you accept.Up to 2 years
pc_access_*After you buy a writing tool, a signed cookie proves your purchase and counts your remaining generations. It contains your order number, not personal details.90 days

If you already have Meta's _fbp cookie from elsewhere, we may read it when you buy. We don't load advertising pixels or tracking scripts from ad networks on this site. We do load Google Analytics, described next, and our fonts are served from our own domain.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, to understand which pages help people and which don't. It records the pages you view, how you got here, your approximate location (city or region, derived from your IP address, which Google says it does not log or store), your device and browser, and actions such as searches, downloads and button clicks. It does not receive your name, email address, payment details or anything you type into the writing tools. We keep this data in Google Analytics for Google's default of two months at the visitor level, and longer only as aggregate reports.

Google processes this data in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Google's data processing terms. To opt out: in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics does not run until you press Accept on the banner; everywhere, the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on stops it, as does the Global Privacy Control signal. Google's own description is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Ad measurement

When you buy, and only if you were allowed to be tracked (see consent below), our server may send Google Ads, Meta and Microsoft Advertising a record of the purchase: the order value and currency, the click identifier from your ad (if any), your IP address and browser type, and a hashed version of your email address (a one-way scrambled form, not the address itself). They use it to tell us whether an ad led to a sale and may also use it under their own privacy policies, for example to match you to an account. We don't share what you typed into the writing tools, and we don't share anything about the people you were writing for.

Server logs

Our host, Vercel, keeps standard request logs (IP address, page, browser type) for security and reliability.

The AI writing tools

The Eulogy Writer and Officiant Script Builder ask you questions about a person or a couple. When you ask for a draft, your answers are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to write it. Here is how we handle that:

  • We don't store your answers or drafts on our servers. The draft goes straight to your browser. Any copy kept after that lives in your browser, and you can delete it any time.
  • We don't use them to train AI. We use Anthropic's API, and under Anthropic's commercial terms, content sent through the API is not used to train its models. Anthropic may keep API content for a limited time under its own policies, for example to detect abuse.
  • We never ask for cause of death or for health or medical details, and we ask you not to type them in. Please also avoid typing financial account numbers, passwords or other people's private identifiers.
  • We don't log your answers or drafts.

Who else sees your information

  • Stripe for payments and receipts.
  • Our email provider (Kit for signups and sequences, Resend for order emails) to send you what you asked for.
  • Anthropic to write drafts in the writing tools.
  • Vercel to host the site.
  • Google for analytics, and Google, Meta and Microsoft for ad measurement, as described above.
  • Authorities, if the law requires it.

We don't sell your personal information. Some of these companies are based in the United States, so your information may be processed there, under the safeguards each of them offers for international transfers.

If we detect that you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, we show a banner. Until you press Accept, we store no ad click identifiers, run no analytics and send no purchase to ad networks. If you press Decline, we don't either. You can change your mind by clearing your cookies for this site, which shows the banner again. Everywhere, if your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a decline.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or California law) you can ask to see, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold, object to or limit how we use it, and withdraw consent. Email hello@pastor.care from the address in question and we'll answer within 30 days. You can also unsubscribe from any email, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.

California residents

We do not sell personal information, and we have not sold it in the past 12 months. Sharing purchase information with ad networks for measurement, and storing ad click identifiers, can count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA/CPRA. You can opt out at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page, by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser (we honor it automatically), or by emailing us. An authorized agent may opt out for you with your written permission.

You also have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and share (this policy is our notice at collection), to access it, to correct it, to delete it, to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we don't collect any), and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, email hello@pastor.care from the address in question and we'll verify it by replying to that address. We respond within 45 days. The categories we collect are: identifiers (email address, order number), commercial information (what you bought), internet activity (pages viewed, ad click identifiers) and approximate location; the sources, purposes and recipients are described above.

How long we keep things

  • Email list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you.
  • Orders: Stripe keeps payment records as long as financial and tax law requires.
  • Cookies: as listed above.
  • Writing-tool answers and drafts: not kept by us.

Children

pastor.care is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, for email subscribers, tell you.
