For a child in the hospital
Jesus, friend of children, our little one is in a hospital bed, and the room is too bright and the beds are too big. We ask you to make it less frightening.
Send gentle nurses, the kind who know how to make a child laugh while giving a shot. Give the doctors the right answers and the courage to tell us the truth. Give our child sleep, comfort and a favorite blanket within reach. Let there be a moment today when they forget they are sick.
Hold us, their parents. Take the thoughts that circle at night and give us something to rest on. Stay with all the children on this floor, and the parents who sleep in chairs beside them.
We love this child. Please heal them. Amen.
