For a friend with a diagnosis

Lord, my friend heard hard news this week, and I want to carry some of it for them. I can't, so I bring it to you.

Give them clear thoughts and a good medical team. Give them courage that comes in daily portions. Keep fear from getting the last word. Send people to stand beside them: someone to drive, someone to cook, someone to sit in silence.

Help me to be that kind of friend. Help me not to disappear when it gets uncomfortable. And Lord, please heal them. Amen.
