In the surgical waiting room

Lord, the clock on this wall is moving too slowly. Somewhere behind those doors, people I trust are working on someone I love, and all I can do is sit here.

So I sit, and I pray. Be with the surgeon. Be with the one on the table. Calm the thoughts that run ahead of me. Give me patience with the others in this room who are also waiting. And when someone comes through that door to find us, let it be good news. If it isn't, be there with us then too. Amen.
