A prayer of surrender: not my will, but yours

Father, if it is possible, take this cup from me. That is my honest prayer, and Jesus himself prayed it.

But not my will, yours be done. I don't say that because I am calm. I say it because I know you, and I know your will toward me is love. Strengthen me the way you strengthened him, and send your angels, whoever they may be today: a nurse, a neighbor, a friend with a casserole.

Into your hands I place this body, this fear, and this day. Amen.
