When I am the one who is sick

God, I am tired of being the one who needs help. I am tired of pain, of appointments, of being afraid in the middle of the night.

I don't have fancy words. I'm asking you to heal me. And if it takes a long time, hold me up while it does. Remind me that I am more than my illness and that I am not alone in this room.

Thank you for the people who are praying for me even when I can't. Amen.
